Brain Injury Simulations
How Do You Understand an Invisible Injury?
The problem: Patients, family, parents, partners, siblings, and caregivers all agree. Most providers don't understand brain injury and lack knowledge for "the most complex condition in the most complex organ in the body". This includes healthcare providers, educational professionals, and justice staff. People living with brain injury usually see whatever providers they are assigned to. So how can we support those living with brain injury when we can't walk in their shoes? By building a training with people with brain injury.

Based on ethical best practices for simulation, we have created a point-of-view simulation for brain injury. This is not the same as having a brain injury - it can never replicate those challenges - but it gives participants a glimpse into a world where your brain does not work like you expect it to. And feel it in your own body. This evidence-based 3-4 hour training facilitates knowledge and empathy for those living with brain injury.

There are many different activities depending on need. Some with goggles, others without. Imagine sitting through a college lecture with a brain injury. How about sitting in court? All activities are guided with debriefs and including interactions with people living with BI. Reach out for more info!
